Construction sites are dynamic, fast-paced working spaces full of workers, visitors, and equipment. Multiple hazards are associated with construction, such as worker safety, equipment working, vandalism, and trespassing. However, the most crucial of them is construction site theft. Construction site theft and vandalism are serious problems affecting Canada’s construction industry. The lack of physical security measures, such as fencing, lighting, cameras, alarms, locks, and guards, and the multiple access points spread across large sites are the reasons for the theft.
